In just 48 hours, 44 teams tackled real-world challenges across eight strategic sectors: Artificial Intelligence, FinTech, HealthTech, EnergyTech, AgriTech, Cybersecurity, EduTech, and more. Guided by 27 international mentors and evaluated by a jury of 26 experts, participants transformed bold ideas into functional prototypes with real impact potential.
Eight winning teams impressed the jury with solutions that addressed a wide spectrum of challenges—from energy efficiency apps and automated parking systems to cybersecurity education modules and AI-powered medical diagnostics. Other winning ideas included digital compliance platforms for SMEs, data-sharing tools for farms, financial data protection systems, and intuitive digital spaces designed for creative professionals. These projects will continue development with technical support and mentorship from partners, reinforcing Moldova’s position as a dynamic regional hub for emerging technologies.

“Events like DeepTech GigaHack 2025 offer a practical space where creativity meets purpose,” said Charles Mathiaux, Deputy Director of EU4Innovation East. “Participants work together to solve real problems using advanced technologies—from AI and FinTech to EnergyTech and Cybersecurity. This reflects the core mission of EU4Innovation East: to support innovation at every stage—from early ideas to investment and scaling—and to strengthen ecosystems that help entrepreneurs succeed across the Eastern Partnership.”
The energy and ambition of Moldova’s young tech community were palpable throughout the event. Thomas Alveteg, First Secretary and Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in Moldova, noted, “I strongly believe that young people and their ideas are part of the solutions we need. Many of the proposals we saw here will help address today’s challenges. We live in a rapidly changing world, and this is exactly where innovation and energy make a difference.”
For Mary Nemciuc, CEO of Technovator, the hackathon was more than a competition—it was a catalyst. “DeepTech GigaHack is a meeting point for generations of innovators. Over these days, we’ve seen how creativity and technology combine to deliver real solutions for communities and businesses. Moldova can become a hub for emerging technologies. Here, bold ideas take shape and evolve into prototypes with global potential.”

As Moldova continues its digital transformation—now with over 300 public services online and an ICT sector contributing 5% to GDP—events like DeepTech GigaHack are vital. They connect talent, data, and ambition, turning Moldova into a launchpad for startups and a magnet for regional collaboration. With post-event incubation, corporate partnerships, and ongoing mentorship, the most promising solutions from GigaHack 2025 are poised to scale—and to shape the future of tech in Moldova and beyond.
Organized by Technovator, DeepTech GigaHack 2025 was supported by EU4Innovation East, funded by the European Union, co-funded by the French Government, and implemented by Expertise France—alongside UMAEF, UNDP Moldova, the Government of Italy, and the Innovate Moldova programme funded by Sweden.
